An Appreciation Party from KEK Users of Japan
-

2011/7/29

In March of 2011, the shocking earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear disaster occurred in Japan caused damages to Photon Factory (PF) which belongs to High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) in Tsukuba on the north of Tokyo, and forced the facility to stop its user program temporarily.

Based on the principle of mutual support and resource sharing, National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) released part of the scheduled machine maintenance period and arranged 1 week of beamtime (July 27 – August 3) for the KEK users to continue their original scientific experiments.

In appreciation of full support and assistance from NSRRC, Prof. Masami Ando from Tokyo University of Science held an appreciation party and presented gifts to the Director of NSRRC, Prof. Shih-Lin Chang, in the afternoon of July 29 at NSRRC.

Synchrotron research is the state-of-the-art scientific research worldwide. NSRRC has been devoted to promoting its Taiwan Beamlines at SPring-8 in Japan for more than ten years, and during this period, it has also established and has been maintaining significant cooperative relationship with the Japanese scientific community. As part of the international scientific community, NSRRC is more than willing to assist the Japanese scientific circle in going through the earthquake disaster.
