The Ministry of Education announced the recipients of the 53rd Academic Awards on September 10, 2009. Dr. Di-Jing Huang, the head of the Scientific Research Division of NSRRC, was one of the winners of this award. This year, there were 83 applications for the Academic Awards and only 13 professors were selected to receive this honor.
With his expertise in experimental condensed matter, electronic structures of strongly correlated-electron systems such as transition metal oxides, Dr. Huang engaged in the study of the microelectronic structure and magnetic properties of emergent materials. Dr. Huang published important papers in well known international scientific journals in recent years. He also received 2005 young scholar award and 2006 outstanding research award from Academia Sinica and National Science Council respectively. In addition, he is a joint-appointment professors of NTHU(National Tsing Hua University) and NCTU(National Chiao Tung University).
The Academic Awards are set up by the Ministry of Education with the aim of improving the quality and the standard of teaching and research. These awards' recipients encompass various fields of expertise, including humanity and art, social science, mathematics & natural science, bioscience & medical science, engineering & applied science, etc.. Each award winner shall receive a certificate and reward of NT$600,000 for his/her contribution in the academic research.
